Strange hobbies

My newest hobby seem to be collecting unknown (for me) cheap second-hand old lenses for Nikon mount. The first I got was a mirror Clubman 500mm f8 which I don't use very often but might become handy if I change my job to the one of a paparazzi. Now I discoverd that my newest 2 aquisitions are actually cult third party lenses for this type of mount. Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 and Kiron 28mm f2 (this is sooooo soft at f2 that you can make some really nice special effects with it) share some very good user reviews on the net.

Some website says: Vivitar is best known for its cult classic Series I lenses from the late 1970s and 1980s. Vivitar took a rather innovative approach to achieve top optical quality, regardless of the loss of convenience and weight of these lenses.[...]I consider Kiron lenses to be great value for the money. These Kiron lenses are later designs than the original Vivitar Series I lenses, without using quirky odd-f/stops or varifocal zoom designs.

To be honest I was shocked to read stuff like this about some things most people throw away in the AF century. Example pictures for the Vivitar you can find here . As for the Kiron (it really sounds wierd isn't it?) the previous picture and the next one are shot with it. As I learn to use them myself (yes they are Nikon AI mount and one has to set up everyting on the camera) I am not yet very good with them. Today I discovered the use of Exposure Compensation bracketing with this lenses. Impressive revolution belive me. Anyway it is just a warning that my next snapshots might not be as sharp or as well calculated as until now.

Prodigy vs. iTunes? invingator iMix

Azi am facut sampling (aproximativ 30 de secunde/song) prin iTunes noului album Prodigy - "Always Outnumbered, Never Outguned". In afara de a-mi scoate palaria in fata jucariei celor de la Apple (e prima data cand sunt chiar interesat macar sa incerc experimentul cumpararii de muzica prin net) mai pot spune despre album ca suna chiar interesant, iar videoclipul piesei "Girls" (de asemenea disponibil in intregime pentru vizualizare prin iTunes) nu e cel de la "Smack My Bitch up" :). Si cum despre mincare spui ca e interesanta atunci cand nu iti indeplineste asteptarile, cam asta e si parerea mea despre albumul celor de mai sus. Un sound un pic altfel, ce necesita un pic de obisnuinta. Desigur ca dintr-un videoclip si 30 de secunde nu iti poti face o parere completa despre ei, dar ma asteptam la un pic mai mult... Si inca un trick. Cautand Prodigy prin shop dai de cateva "prune" destul de greu de inghitit: Mr. Kane, Snoop Dogg, Special Ed & The Prodigy, QBG (Funkmaster Flex & Big Kap Feat. Prodigy and Kool G Rap). Si inspirat de un prieten vechi am tras cu urechea si la albumul de la inceputul lui 2004 al celor de la Crystal Method - Legion of Boom. Si Vegas e departe... Doua trupe care se remarcau prin forta. Acum, eu unul, nu as mai spune asta. Si nu sunt nici critic de muzica, nici macar pasionat, doar ascultator.

Oare ce am vrut sa spun in postul asta? Ca nu mi-a placut Prodigy sau ca mi-a placut tare iTunes?

Si totusi uitam ceva: iMix, o alta gaselnita super faina, cu ajutorul careia ca membru al shopului iti poti defini propria colectie de melodii, un fel de album personal, careia ii poti da titlu si o poti supune votului celorlalti... si mai mult ei putand cumpara exact acele melodii din playlist "impachetate". Pina acum sunt 105000 mixuri definite, cu peste 300000 de voturi. Spre exemplu pentru cine nu cunoaste muzica germana de azi poate vedea mai jos o "Deutschstunde":

Cu pasi mici... catre Caraibe

* Azi nu am aflat nimic interesant de la Stichtag, dar mi-am adus aminte ca nici nu am nevoie. In urma cu 4 ani ajungeam pe taram teuton si incepeam "viata la tara". Cum s-a adaptat un orasean la viata de satuc de 12 ori mai mic decat cel natal nu as putea spune, uneori intrebandu-se chiar el daca intr-adevar s-a adaptat. Cert e ca au trecut 4 ani cu tastatura sub degete si scaunul sub fund. Si cu pasi mici se intra in urmatorul.
* Tot azi am experimentat gastronomic. Dupa ce in urma cu 2 luni renuntatem la a testa noul restaurant de citeva strazi mai incolo azi ne-am incumetat. Si nimeni nu o putea descrie mai bine decat un neamt intr-un ziar local:

Man bekommt in jedem Fall eine Speisekarte, ein Holztablett (mit einem großen Loch) und eine große Schüssel. Mit diesen Zutaten kann man seine Speisen selber kombinieren. Bestellt man "Einmal Karibik", kann man sich für 8,90 Euro am großen Buffet die Schüssel auffüllen und bekommt zuvor Baguette mit Ali-Oli (Knoblauch/Öl). Zum Hauptgang kann man zwischen neun verschiedenen Marinaden wählen. Dazu gibt es eine Schüssel Reis. Kinder zahlen dafür nur 4,90 Euro.

Wegen des Känguruh-Fleisches fragte ich Herrn Papaioanoy, ob das denn auch authentisch karibisch sei. Er antwortete: "Nicht alle Zutaten sind authentisch. Auch unser Personal ist eher griechisch-karibisch-international. Authentisch karibisch ist in erster Linie die Art der Zubereitung, das Braten auf der großen Metallplatte. Das habe ich auf meinen Reisen durch die Karibik oft gesehen und immer gerne probiert. ".

Nota 8 pentru mincare (~10% supraapreciere valorica), 7 pentru bauturile cam scumpe, 10 pentru sinceritatea sefului in interviul de mai sus si 6 pentru explicatiile date de domnul chelner insarcinat cu introducerea specialitatii noilor clienti. BTW: Restaurantul se numea inainte Sirtaki :D. Ce ti-e si cu globalizarea...
